Are there addiction support groups for chronic pain patients?

Question by : Are there addiction support groups for chronic pain patients?
I have a debilitating disease which attacks my nervous system & have no other option but to take pain meds daily. My problem is that I’ve been addicted to them for over 8 years. I constantly run out early then freak out bc I dont wanna go into withdrawals. In the past I’ve even bought them on the “street” & forged prescriptions which I almost went to jail for! I’m managing them fairly well now but its a daily struggle! I know I’m an addict & not just dependent on them & I really wanna find a support group that doesn’t just preach abstinence bc I have no other choice but to continue taking the meds I’m on. I’ve tried to go without & tried other kinds of meds but those options just don’t work for me. I can hardly move, let alone live my life as a mom of 4 beautiful kids! I am so over this “prison of pills” but there doesnt seem to be any help for ppl like me. Are there any addiction support groups for chronic pain patients who HAVE to take narcotics? Surely I can’t be the ONLY one!
